This article analyzes the possibilities of improving the technology of deployment and monitoring the condition of rolling stock in order to improve the efficiency of operational management of transportation based on the technology of the Internet of things (IoT). An analysis of the capabilities of six types of wireless network of the Internet of things is made. The key features of each of them and the possibilities of application in different directions are described.
