ETYMOLOGY OF THE ENGLISH WORD-STOCK, THE APPROACHES AND PRINCIPLES ON CREATING ETYMOLOGICAL DICTIONARIES OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

This article discusses the etymology of the English word-stock, the approaches and principles of English etymological vocabularies, which are created by various linguists. It also considers different hypotheses on the matter. The article is devoted to the comparative study of creating etymological dictionaries.
